This light installation is part of a larger practise within Matthews work that explores night club culture and queering institutional spaces to feel softer like a house parties. The piece is a series of rotating disco lights that over time the viewer finds themselves in a euphoric state. The work is choreographic in its proposal as it plays with the time, space and energy.
Field of dreams is about witnessing how light plays a huge part in spaces for partying. The viewer may want to enter in to the space due to its inviting nature but permission is not granted as sometimes we should be spectators of beauty and not participants.
